Racine Astronomical Society Members’ Forum Rules 

1. Respectful Communication

Treat all members with kindness and respect.
No personal attacks, harassment, or discriminatory language.
Healthy debates are welcome—just keep it civil.

2. Stay on Topic 

Keep discussions relevant to astronomy, astrophysics, stargazing, space exploration, and related topics.
Use appropriate subforums or tags when starting new threads.

3. No Spam or Self-Promotion

Avoid posting irrelevant links, advertisements, or promotional content.
You may share personal projects or events if they are astronomy-related and approved by moderators.

4. Credible Sources Only 

When sharing news or scientific information, cite reliable sources (e.g., NASA, ESA, peer-reviewed journals).
Avoid spreading misinformation or conspiracy theories.

5. Image and Content Guidelines 

Share only appropriate and copyright-respecting images or content.
When posting astrophotography, include details like equipment used, location, and exposure settings if possible.

6. Avoid Political Content 

This forum is a space for science and curiosity—please refrain from posting political opinions, commentary, or content.
Discussions should remain focused on astronomy and space science.

7. Safety First 

Do not share unsafe practices (e.g., looking at the sun without proper filters).
Encourage safe stargazing and telescope use.

8. Privacy and Anonymity 

Do not share personal information (yours or others’) publicly.
Respect members’ privacy at all times.

9. Event Organization Guidelines 

All events (e.g., star parties, lectures, workshops) must be approved by the Board of Directors before being posted.
Include key details: date, time, location, purpose, and any required equipment or registration.
Respect local laws and safety regulations when organizing in-person gatherings.
Virtual events should include clear access instructions and time zones.
Follow up with a summary or photos (if appropriate) to share the experience with the community.
